The Nusuk app is now the official gateway every pilgrim passes through before setting foot inside Masjid al-Haram. Getting an Umrah permit is no longer a paper you request at an office; it is a few taps on your phone. You create an account, pick a slot that suits you, and receive a digital permit with a QR code. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah built this route as part of Vision 2030, and made the app the starting point for anyone planning Umrah or a prayer in the Noble Rawdah.
This guide walks you through it step by step: downloading the app, creating your account, booking your Umrah permit, and reserving a Rawdah slot. It is written for visitors arriving from abroad as much as for citizens and residents, with notes on where the process differs.
What is the Nusuk app, and why is it mandatory?
Nusuk is the official digital platform of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Through it you manage the whole journey: your Umrah permit, Rawdah slots, and services such as transport and guidance inside the two holy mosques. More importantly, it is not optional. Every pilgrim arriving on an Umrah visa or a tourist e-visa must book an Umrah permit through the app before entering Masjid al-Haram. For the 2026 season there are no exemptions based on nationality; the rule is the same for everyone.
The permit works in your favour. It spreads numbers across time slots, so you perform your Umrah when it is calmer and easier to focus. If you still need to arrange entry to the Kingdom, check the steps on our visa page before you begin.
Step one: download the app and create your account
Download Nusuk from the App Store or Google Play. You can install it any time, but you cannot finish registration without a valid visa number. A practical tip: download early, and leave the identity-verification step until your visa documents arrive.
Creating a visitor account (from abroad)
Open the app, choose "Register New User", then select "Visitor". Enter your passport or border number, your visa number, date of birth, mobile number, and email. A one-time code (OTP) confirms your account. After that, you are ready to issue permits.
Citizens and residents
If you are a citizen or resident, signing in is quicker through the national single sign-on. Once verified, you go straight to the services list to choose "Perform Umrah".
Step two: booking your Umrah permit on the Nusuk app
From the home screen, choose "Perform Umrah". Set yourself as the main beneficiary and add any companions travelling with you, so their permits are issued in the same booking. Then pick a date and time from the schedule; the colours show how busy each slot is, so choose a quieter one if your plans allow.
After you confirm, you receive the digital permit with its QR code. Keep it on your phone, since you will show it at the entry points. And a detail that reassures many people: booking an Umrah permit through Nusuk is completely free in 2026, so do not pay any middleman for the permit itself.
- Select "Perform Umrah" from the services list.
- Add the main beneficiary and companions.
- Pick a date and time using the crowd indicator.
- Confirm and save the QR code.
Step three: booking a Noble Rawdah slot
Praying in the Noble Rawdah at the Prophet's Mosque needs a separate permit from the same app. Open Nusuk, go to the Prophet's Mosque services, then "Noble Rawdah". Choose your gender (men and women have separate times), select an available date and slot, and confirm to receive a Rawdah QR code.
Slots are limited and open in waves, so check the app regularly before you travel and book the moment a suitable time appears. If your plans change, you can edit the appointment or cancel the permit inside the app before the slot, subject to the Ministry's policy and the availability of new times.
Tips to make Nusuk easier
- Register early: create your account as soon as your visa arrives; good slots go fast in peak seasons.
- Save QR codes offline: screenshot each permit in case the signal is weak near the mosque.
- Check your details: make sure the name and passport number match your documents before you confirm.
- Watch Rawdah slots: availability shifts, and checking daily improves your chances of a good time.

Master these three steps, the account, the Umrah permit, then the Rawdah slot, and you have cleared the biggest administrative hurdle of your trip. The rest is worship and peace of mind. If you would like help arranging the whole journey, from stay and transport to a visit plan, we at Habibi Travel are glad to help through our Umrah services page.
